Who is yoga for?
Everyone and every body! The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj” which is translated as — union, connection.
Who do you teach?

Why do we practice yoga?
To experience freedom from worldly attachments and desires. In other words, to feel comfortable and confident in our own skin without having to define our worth by the titles, status and labels we hold. We practice Yoga to develop deep meaningful relationships, Self acceptance, and to live a positive, practical, productive, and authentic life.
What is Yoga?
One could say yoga is a systematic practice for the development of human potential — Self Realization.
There is no single definition of yoga. Yoga can be defined as a science, philosophy, physical and spiritual practice. In order to experience truth through yoga, we must study its classical definitions, put it into practice, and reflect on our own understanding of it.
There are 4 disciplines of yoga: Bhakti Yoga - Path of Devotion, Gnana Yoga - Path of Knowledge, Karma Yoga - Path of Action, and Hatha Yoga - Path of Compulsion. Hatha Yoga is what the modern world knows best as: doing yoga, going to take a yoga class or practicing yoga.
The physical Yoga classes we roll our mats out for, such as: Vinyasa, Power, Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Kundalini, etc., are all different styles to choose from that resonate with your preference on any given day.
For example, Vinyasa means linking your breath with your movement. When partaking in a Vinyasa class with a First Light Beauty Teacher, you will be moving through an alignment based class focusing on cultivating Ujjayi (diaphragmatic) breathing - giving your mind something to focus on whilst flowing through each yoga posture.
We are available to guide you through all paths of yoga, if one resonates deeper with you than the other. If you have no clue as to what resonates with you, lets begin with a simple discussion to find out your needs.
What are the benefits of Yoga?
Not to worry, the ancient Yoga texts are not directly calling you Type A Personality, OCD or easily distracted by referring to Hatha yoga as the path of compulsion, but, lets get real…WE ARE ALL WALKING STRESS CASES. And, if you couldn’t take the joke then please contact us immediately because you definitely need Yoga.
Let’s break down the benefits of practicing yoga:
- Conscious Awareness
- Breath Control
- Intellectual Development
- Decreases Anxiety and Depression
- Mindful Eating
- Weight Loss and Maintenance
- Lower Blood Pressure
- Self Acceptance
Yoga is not always fun nor comfortable; however, the moment you choose to step out of your comfort zone and start something new, there is growth. Stick with it and you will experience results!
Who will be guiding me?
Our teachers are some of the yoga industry’s leading teachers. With multiple trainings, Yoga Alliance certifications and various backgrounds, you are in safe hands.
How do I know what level I am?
Level shmevel. We don’t focus on levels because we are trying to detach from the labels, status and titles that keep us held back and confined to a little box or our comfort zone. An experienced teacher will be able to deliver a safe class, fulfilling the needs of a first time practitioner to a Yoga Teacher. We focus on the application of technique, leading to the listed benefits.
Private classes, workshops and trainings are great avenues to deepen your practice and work on the many techniques of pranayama (breathing), alignment, and various postures to challenge your practice.
How is Yoga practiced?
Everyone has different preferences based on their vasanas (inherent nature) as it is referred to in Sanskrit. We are here to match you with a yoga teacher that suits your personal needs and preferences. When you feel comfortable and safe with your teacher, you will then soar to your highest heights.
You will meet your teacher at your preferential location and roll out your mat, put on some tunes or take in the sounds of nature and be guided through your practice.
It’s that simple. Not always easy, but, simple.
